    SUPERVISION STYLE

I have 17 years of clinical experience, including residential, outpatient, managed care, and private practice. I have been in private practice for 8 years, providing services to individuals, couples, families, and groups with a variety of different individuals from all types of backgrounds. Even though my theoretical orientation includes an integrated approach to Person-Centered and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, I incorporate a variety of different approaches and treatment methods within the clinical setting, as each individual is different. Some of my favorites include Gestalt, Psychodynamic, DBT, Solution Focused, EMDR, and ACT.

Due to my focus on holistic practices, I like to incorporate both eastern and western methodologies within the treatment environment. I often will incorporate energy work into my sessions as appropriate and will refer to other practitioners who are certified in Ayurveda, Massage Therapy, and other holistic practitioners.

I have been doing supervision since 2018 when approached by a local University to be a clinical supervisor.

I provide supervision to individuals in a way that is appropriately matched to their skill level. During the clinical supervision process, I rely on you, the supervisee, to be able to identify goals that you are working on and what your needs are as to where you are developmentally in the clinical counseling supervision process. This specifically integrates the Person-Centered approach to this model of supervision as I rely on the individual’s self-knowledge of where they are in the process to be able to guide them to where they need to go next.

My supervisees have varying interests, including domestic violence, substance abuse, trauma, and anxiety, as well as, kids and/or adults. I have knowledge in all these areas, but for my own clinical practice, I specialize in anxiety and trauma. Because I have worked with a variety of different individuals in the beginning of my career, I encourage my supervisees to experience different populations and different presenting issues so that way they get a chance to see if they like it or not. I have had a few individuals in the past who’ve really enjoyed this, because they have found out things about themselves that they would have never really known. Some individuals found that they enjoy working with individuals with intellectual disabilities, others found kids to be fascinating, and some have found that there are clinical areas from which they would prefer to stay away.
