Critical Incident Stress Management Training

At Creative Space, our Critical Incident Desensitization Training gives first responders, teams, and individuals a practical tool to calm the nervous system and regain function, before trauma becomes something harder to carry.

What Is Critical Incident Desensitization Training?

Critical Incident Desensitization Training is a structured psychological first aid tool designed to help individuals stabilize their nervous system in the aftermath of a traumatic or high-stress event. Unlike traditional therapy, it is not a long-term treatment, it is an immediate intervention that helps people return to function, process acute stress, and prevent the escalation of trauma symptoms.

The training is delivered in a 3–4 hour online group format, making it accessible to teams and organizations without requiring in-person attendance. Individual sessions are also available on request.

Who Is This Training For?

01

First Responders & Emergency Workers

Law enforcement, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and ER staff who are regularly exposed to traumatic events on the job. This training gives your team a practical tool to use in the immediate aftermath of a critical incident, before trauma becomes chronic.

02

Organizations & Workplace Teams

Any team that has experienced a traumatic workplace event, a sudden loss, a violent incident, or a high-stress crisis. Organizations that invest in psychological first aid see lower rates of burnout, absenteeism, and long-term mental health impacts.

03

Individuals Seeking Somatic Tools

You don't have to be a first responder to benefit. If you're looking for a somatic technique to calm your own nervous system after a difficult experience, this training provides practical tools you can use immediately and carry with you long-term.

What to Expect ?

The training is conducted online in a small group format. Participants learn body-based techniques for nervous system regulation, gain psychoeducation about normal trauma responses, and practice tools they can apply immediately after a critical incident. No prior mental health experience is required.

For ongoing PTSD treatment following a critical incident, see our PTSD counseling page. For individual trauma support, our trauma counseling services and EMDR therapy are also available.
